Q & A for the Swimming Spectacles
- What is spherical and aspherical design? What are the differences?
Spherical lenses have been used in most swimming goggles. The higher the diopter, the heavier the lens, and the narrower the vision became. All these create burden to
swimmers. Sable is the first company in the world to adopt aspherical lens, making thinner and lighter lenses a swell as offering the best visual quality by rectifying the optical aberration at the edges. - Can I have a good swimming spectacles for astigmatism ?
Astigmatism has the problem on angles, it’s difficult to make the astigmatism swimming goggles according to different individual’s visual angles. There is a comment for reference and can let the astigmatism to get better vision: it’s half the strength for astigmatism and plus the myopic strength. For example, myopia of -2.00 and astigmatism of +1.00, the strength for underwater lens should be -2.00 +(C-1.00/2) = -2.50. That means you can choose myopia -2.50 swimming goggles.
But due to the differences of angles, it might be not applicable to some users. - Is it necessary to reduce the diopters when choosing myopic swimming goggles?
It’s not necessary. Some suppliers commonly held as true that the strength of the lens for swimming goggles should be reduced -0.50 or -1.00 which is incorrect. Because the vision changes constantly both above and below water. Only choose the absolute flat lens, no matter what is above or below water, vision remain unchanged, so no need to reduce any diopters. - What is the influence if the PD value (Pupil Distance) is incorrect?
It’s uncomfortable to wear and can affect the vision as wearing an optical glasses with improper PD value, there may be so-called prism effect when you see the floor is not flat and lose your balance. - Can I wear the contact lens for swimming?
No, because contact lens is on the crystal-lens of eyes, no one can assure there is no leakage and water won’t contact with eyes, furthermore, due to the swimming pools may have infection of bacteria, oil dirt and chemical agents, once the water contacts with eyes, it easily attaches on the contact lenses and difficult to get rid of . Our eyes can be easily infected, and it will also damage the contact lenses. - How long can we wear the swimming goggles when swimming?
When we are swimming, our eyes also need oxygen. Actually, wearing a swimming goggles with a bigger lens room, it’s recommended not over 30 minutes, 15~20 minutes for the small lens room, and we should take off swimming goggles for some fresh air. - Can I choose the available diopters for myopic or presbyopic swimming goggles?
SABLE swimming goggles provides myopia -1.50 ~ -10.0 and presbyopia (astigmatism) +1.50 ~ +4.00 for consumers’ choice. - How can I avoid scratching on my swimming goggles?
SABLE swimming goggles has the special hard-coating treatment on the lens surface, offering strong scratch resistance for the lenses. - Is it possible for a heavy myopia people to find the available swimming goggles?
Yes, SABLE have the lens for myopia up to -10.00. - CARE AND MAINTAINENCE FOR THE SWIMMING GOGGLES
Anti-fog is with hydrophilic nature, rinse the goggles in the water to activate hydrophilic anti-fog preparation thoroughly and throw the water off before wearing for the perfect anti-fog effect.
Please do not touch the the inner side of the lenses with nails, fingers or other acute object to prevent scratching on the surface and damaging the anti-fog film.
Rinse the goggles with clean and cool water after swimming and dry them in cool shaded area. Do not wash your goggles with alcohol, dilution or other organic solution so as not to causes reduction in anti-fog effect. Please wash the lens gently with neutral detergent and dry them in cool shaded area.
Please do not expose swimming goggles below sun light or in a sauna chamber. Otherwise, the anti-fog function could be eliminated by the UV rays and heat, thereby reducing the swimming goggles’ lifetime.
Please do not pull and disassemble the gasket unless very necessary.
